St John's Church

The Church is a Victorian grey stone building consecrated in 1867. It stands in an urban area at the junction between London Road and Close Street on the main south-east route out of Carlisle . There is a small grass area to the front and access paths at either side of the building.

The Church is in good structural order and was redecorated in 1998. A new sound system was installed in 2002 which includes a loop system. Some pews have been removed to allow for a stage to be fitted in the chancel as necessary, we are in the early stages of looking at how the church building could be reordered.

The Parish Centre

The Parish Centre is a complex on three levels including a sports hall with balcony, a lounge/meeting room, kitchen, toilets, office, meeting rooms and storerooms. The structure is built onto the rear of the church. The sports hall is marked out for football and badminton.

The Parish Centre has a ramp for disabled access to the hall and the church. There is also a disabled toilet. The building is let out to a variety of community groups on most days of the week.
